Expressions of Interest Sought for Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Liberal Commission
Newly elected President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Liberal Commission Lori-Ann Campbell is inviting expressions of interest for the Executive Board of the Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Liberal Commission.

“The Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Commission is mandated to represent and promote the voices of women within the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Liberal Party of Canada. We assist and encourage the active participation and election of women candidates at all levels of the Party, and ensure that federal and provincial policies and legislation do not discriminate against women and their families” says Ms. Campbell.

"As President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Liberal Commission, I am given the constitutional authority to appoint up to 13 women to serve on the executive board. I want to communicate this opportunity to as many women in our province as possible.”

The Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Liberal Commission is a constitutionally independent wing of provincial/federal Liberal Party with the authority to form Women’s Liberal Clubs/Associations in all 48 provincial electoral districts and 7 federal ridings.

Politically, members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Women’s Liberal Commission have representation on Provincial District Associations, Federal Riding Associations, at Provincial AGM’s, National Biennials and Provincial and Federal Executive Councils. Each Club may carry out their own fundraising activities and develop local policy resolutions relating to women and their families for submission to both the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Liberal Party of Canada.

“The role of the executive board is to provide leadership to our existing and potential Women’s Liberal Clubs, to nurture involvement, stimulate fundraising, and to grow the organization in every region of the province” notes Ms. Campbell. “The call for expressions of interest for positions on the executive board will be carried in newspapers, internet social networks and radio stations around the province. Emails and phone calls will be made to all women in the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador current and to advocacy and service organizations of and for women above age 14. The deadline for responses is August 1st, 2009.”

For more information about the appointment process or to obtain expression of interest forms, please contact the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador Office by phone Toll Free 1-866-726-7116, 709-754-1813; by e-mail at libnl@nf.aibn.com; nlliberalwomenscommission@live.com or by visiting http://www.Newfoundland and Labradorliberals.ca.
