This was so good to read Jacqueline. And it's all true. This is a hard drinking town and I only fully realised that after I moved away from it. When you drink less, or not at all, you have totaly control over yourself. You can still have tons of f...

Profile Information

About Me:
Feminist for sure...musician, lighting designer...from St.John's but living in Montreal.

Here's a little song from me and one of my favorite ones from my dear friend Cherie...it's one we like to play together.

Soon, very soon, Cherie and I will be playing shows together again in good ol' Montreal. I'll let you know when we are ready to unleash the hurtinest, loneliest, beautifulest, sappiest, rockinest indie-roots-rock-and-roll wet dream you ever did see.

Being an Immigrant

well, not really, but an immigrant to Quebec. This year has truly opened my eyes to how hard it is to pick up your life and move to a new place with a new language. It takes real guts. It takes so much humility and drive to learn a new language and to try and find connections with people so different from you. Well, actually, the connections come pretty easy once you have a way of communicating. The women in my French class are all so different and amazing in their own way. It has really put alo… Continue

ROCK CAMP FOR GIRLS TOMORROW NIGHT IN MONTREAL

Come out, come out wherever you are (in Montreal)!

This is a very excellent event happening in my fair city, which our friend Cherie Pyne is a part of (thank goodness). The show is tomorrow night and I am posting the link for you to see more information. All I know is that, as of now, there is a 9 year old drummer who only comes up to Cherie's knee and she rules on her kit! I can't wait to hear what these girls have to play.

The Seeger Sisters

One of my favorite things on the Internet is the Smithsonian Global Sound website http://www.globalsound.org/index.aspx
If you are at all interested in international music, lost recordings and anthropology, this is an easy place to get lost. I am actually grateful that I don't have a credit card (for once) because I would loose my shirt on obscure albums.

Anyway, I just posted a couple of Seeger Sisters tunes on my page for you to hear and maybe check out more of. I discovered them while I was… Continue

What's in a name

Hi

I am working on a piece that I would like to do either a radio piece or a short film about. It's about Names. Particulary, surnames. I changed my last name almost five years ago and since then have found many many women who have done the same. I find it interesting.

So, I'm putting out a little survey for women who have changed their names; just for interests sake

1-Do you go by your father's surname or your mother's surname or another surname? Why?

2-If you have children, who's surname d… Continue

Blogetting is somewhere between baquetting and bloodletting - its when the only way you can bring yourself to watch Vampire Diaries or that HBO one is by stuffing yourself with sandwich meat on a baquette. It's best to drink a pepsi as well.
