About Me:
Many moons ago, in a Bay far far away (not TOO far actually...Placentia)...
Academic background in film. Moved to Vancouver to make movies. Ended up managing a record store. Then popped over to the music biz, working in the marketing end of record labels (in Van and back in NL) for years. A 5-year stint as the E.D. of NL's umbrella arts lobby group. Now the chief marketing schmoe for NL's film and television producers....festival hopping, deal enabling, spreading the proverbial word!

"No Place For A Woman"
In the 1970s, women began breaking into male-dominated professions as never before. Women took jobs as police officers, lawyers and steelworkers. Across the country, the first women in male bastions faced a hostile reception. In the iron mines of northern Minnesota, women were harassed, threatened and assaulted. Their fight to keep their jobs broke new legal gro… Continue

Hey François - just checking to see if that slow loading and freeze biz with the site is still there. I took a look and in fact the site was off-line when I checked with 'under maintenance' posted, which I've never actually seen before. But all seems well now. Merci et aussi j'ai parlé avec Randal aujourd'hui et j'ai mon appartement au dix-neuvieme encore! rose x

I thought the disco balls were all about the silver thing - silver is in - it will be shortlived I am sure - but I did see a great silver trench. Honestly - don't think the silver tin foil will work - what about coming out completely against the trend and making comments like - silver is NEVER in with me. Or silver is for people with acne (my fav) or she never looked worse than she did in those silver shoes... and wear gold. Just a thought - a fashionista thought.

With my shoes - do I need anything else, I thought - but you are right - its never enough - you have proved yourself are a fashion god in that single comment. maybe we should get mics and do a run way commentary on the red rug outside Bianca's....too much effort - I only have time to rehearse my heels....

HOUSEKEEPING

Our name was inspired by a survey of elected women in governments worldwide showing Canada in the disappointing position of #48. And over the past two years we've dropped to 50 and risen to 47....
We're a politically motivated, artistically driven platform for feminists interested in challenging the status quo.
We invite filmmakers, artists and activists to express themselves and contribute their art and ideas.
We're committed to showcasing female artists and to connecting with women around the world.
We believe we have a responsibility to support womens' struggle for human rights and equality globally.
We also believe in using art and entertainment to mix it up in the political world.
Our logo is by young Newfoundland artist Isabelle Riche. Welcome!
Please drop me a line here, anytime!
Cheers, Rosemary
