I hear you loud and clear and the frustration felt by some of us is overpowering at times. We may not have power over what's done, but we have power over what we do. I once thought a great protest to illuminate some of the problems women face in so…

For the love of all that's holy. When is everybody going to GET IT that we live in a society that blatantly objectifies women of all ages and on all fronts. Our only value is still what slave labour can we provide and while we're at it just bend ove…

Yes Lois and as long as we/our gender/females/femmes continue to buy the bulls***t that magazines offer and deifize "Sex in the City" approaches to all things successful in the femme world then nothing changes. Its up to us damn it.

I hear ya loud and clear. I stood up to my child's pediatrician who sexually assaulted me while my son, who was in my arms at the time was in cardiac distress. And what was the focus throughout the entire proceedings at the College of Physicians & S…

Hey Gals - its time to reign in "free" everything. Freedoms in speach, action, etc. also require RESPONSIBILITY. Censor I say, censor, until responsibility is learned. And I can just hear the comments about that. But our almighty deifying of "free s…

Its not surprising as men continue to run the world and many of the women in charge are "skirted" old boys. Nothing changes. Yea laws are created due to the incredible diligence of justice advocates, but then what - enforcement is a whole other matt…

Profile Information

About Me:
Justice advocate, beauty artist, adult caregiver, entrepreneur, L-brain/R-brain active, SURVIVOR !! I'm active at both ends of the continuum in many endeavours - making for a very interesting life.

I successfully run my own business, advocate for the disadvantaged, stand up to violence and the medical/legal abuses abounding, care for my physically challenged adult daughter; wear my tool belt and stilettos with equal aplomb, and make sure I guffaw, laugh and crackup at absolutely anything I can find.

My friends esteem me, my enemies respect me (even though some hate me) and my granddog loves me. Not much of an epitaph in the world of glitz and glam but achievement none the less - at least in my mind and the people I've served.

Hi Sharon - you're a doll to get this organized for Velma. I just found your message below because I was roaming around the pages - in order to get a message to me you have to click Reply or View Thread - otherwise the message just stays on your own wall when of course you want it on my wall!
Much to learn and yes, just now recovering from the cyber mishap and and as you say we all have enough to say to fill things up pretty fast!
In order for you to upload Velma's picture you'll have to get her username and password, then follow the instructions that I've posted in Help!! How Do I Make This Work???. You've already done it yourself so it's the same process, it's just that you log in as Velma then click Change Photo under the profile picture. Let me know if you have any difficulties. Thanks again! Cheers, Rosemary

Hi Rosemary - sorry to hear about the cyber mishap, but I think we all have enough to say to fill cyberspace up again fast. I will pick up the threads soon.

Regarding Velma. I have a picture of her actually as I've done her makeup and hair a few times for her promo pictures and could certainly put it up for her, but how do I get into her page to do this? Have you been in touch with her? I should probably get her permission to upload the photo.

Thanks again Rosemary.

Hey Sharon - I love your page by the way - great photos and the typeface is super! Just wanted to let you know that while trying to fix something else I inadvertently deleted all the discussions, losing the text and the replies. Aaaargh! I've re-posted The F Word as well as the piece on Britney Spears and will ask Emma, who started What is Feminism to put that post back up. I feel like such an idiot but there you go.
Now one other thing - we've had to require that members post a photo - it's really necessary for security, for trying to keep the site under control and monitoring members (we've had some creepy no-photo, strange alias men joining up e.g.). But I was thinking that Velma may have trouble posting a photo.... can you give her a hand perhaps? All the best my dear and please get back on the posting trail and I'll be more careful in the future! Cheers, Rosemary

HOUSEKEEPING

Our name was inspired by a survey of elected women in governments worldwide showing Canada in the disappointing position of #48. And over the past two years we've dropped to 50 and risen to 47....
We're a politically motivated, artistically driven platform for feminists interested in challenging the status quo.
We invite filmmakers, artists and activists to express themselves and contribute their art and ideas.
We're committed to showcasing female artists and to connecting with women around the world.
We believe we have a responsibility to support womens' struggle for human rights and equality globally.
We also believe in using art and entertainment to mix it up in the political world.
Our logo is by young Newfoundland artist Isabelle Riche. Welcome!
Please drop me a line here, anytime!
Cheers, Rosemary
