48th PARALLEL PROJECT

FOR WOMEN (AND MEN!) WHO DARE TO CALL THEMSELVES FEMINISTS

I am very sick with the flu. I am pretty sure it's H1N1. It's a really, really bad flu - but I have had just as bad with a much worse cough. The most worrisome symptom, (since I am not throwing-up - I rarely do - unless drinking), is the heaviness on the lungs. Strange cause there is no signs of congestion, yet I have a heavy congested feeling on the lungs, and I started feeling that almost immediately. In fact, I was contemplating not sleeping at all in case I had respiratory failure - that's how severe the pain the chest was.
It started with a headache, but the chest, cough and aches came on really fast. It's like having the middle part of a flu immediately. Olivia has it too, but she was over it a couple of days. Still I get up in the middle of the night and wake her up to make sure she is breathing.
But me, my chest still aches front and back - and still a dry, hoarse-sounding cough without a sore throat. Olivia gave my back a hug this morning before she went to school, and that took the pain away for a few minutes.
I am writing this cause before I had the flu, I was scared and stressed by the attention this flu is getting. I am still a little stressed, but not as much. I thought for anyone like me - cause I am experiencing stress from a whole other problem - it might help to read about flu survival.... I am using Vicks, taking vitamins - especially D, and Gingseng.

One argument goes that recessions are good for female artists because when money flies out the window, women are allowed in the house. The other claims that when money ebbs, so do prospects for women. Given this season’s abundance of female galle...

HOUSEKEEPING

Our name was inspired by a survey of elected women in governments worldwide showing Canada in the disappointing position of #48. And over the past two years we've dropped to 50 and risen to 47....
We're a politically motivated, artistically driven platform for feminists interested in challenging the status quo.
We invite filmmakers, artists and activists to express themselves and contribute their art and ideas.
We're committed to showcasing female artists and to connecting with women around the world.
We believe we have a responsibility to support womens' struggle for human rights and equality globally.
We also believe in using art and entertainment to mix it up in the political world.
