FOR WOMEN (AND MEN!) WHO DARE TO CALL THEMSELVES FEMINISTS

What the Fuck is Wrong With Alberta Politicians

Politicians of the Conservative persuasion are no strangers to making idotic comments but Alberta MLA Doug Elniski appears to have raised the bar on offensive and narrow minded statements.
In a post on his blog Elniski states.

"Ladies, always smile when you walk into a room, there is nothing a man wants less than a woman scowling because he thinks he is going to get s--t for something and has no idea what."

It continues, "Men are attracted to smiles, so smile, don't give me that 'treated equal' stuff. If you want Equal, it comes in little packages at Starbucks."

What the Fuck!?!?!?!?! For real? The comments are made worse by the fact that they are intended to be directed at young men and women as "Advice" for the future. One can assume that he advised the young men to do lot's of grunting and beating their chest when dealing with all these smiling young ladies.

I'm almost more worried that the defense he is currently spinning involves the well used "I didn't realise people would be offended." Really Doug? you didn't think anyone would be pissed off at that? Wow. Just...I mean...Wow!

This follows last week's controversial statment by Alberta's Conservative Minister of Finance, Iris Evans, stated that "When you're raising children, you don't both go off to work and leave them for somebody else to raise. This is not a statement against daycare. It's a statement about their belief in the importance of raising children properly."

Oh yeah. One more thing. Just last week Elniski apologised for updating his Twitter at the Pride Parade to state "I'm surrounded by a bunch of bumping and grinding Lesbians"

Could Elniski have been serious? If so, I'd hope that 98% of those who heard/read his 1800s remarks would pity him and those who have to live with him. I think I heard him on the radio at least claiming that he was kidding.

I am very sick with the flu. I am pretty sure it's H1N1. It's a really, really bad flu - but I have had just as bad with a much worse cough. The most worrisome symptom, (since I am not throwing-up - I rarely do - unless drinking), is the heaviness...

OK, my last post on this, at least for today! Two other thoughts after I hit "Add Reply": It's very important to acknowledge the weight of the burden you carry as a survivor and to not be too hard on yourself. This is not easy. It takes a lot of...
